About Us

Thanks for showing interest in Live Oak Wrestling Club (LOWC).

Live Oak Wrestling Club was formed in November 2007 by Norvin Hill. The club was originally formed with 3 Live Oak Middle School students, Cody Hill, Mason Claverie, and Austin Boitnott. These 3 wrestlers represented Live Oak but practiced and attended tournaments through Ascension Titans Wrestling Club. Although there was no wrestling club in the Live Oak area, the kids were determined to represent their school and community even before a local club was formed.

Currently, the Club practices at Live Oak Middle School two to three times a week and members compete in statewide, regional and national tournaments. The club is chartered as a USA Wrestling Club and trains wrestlers from 4yrs old to 18yrs old. The Club offers training in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco Roman. The Live Oak Wrestling Club is dedicated to bringing wrestling to the Live Oak community while being instrumental in the early training and preparation for high school wrestling.

Live Oak Wrestling Club is one of the fastest growing youth organizations in Livingston Parish and highly respected in the wrestling community. Since we started to the end of the 2014 season our athletes have captured 64 State Titles from the youth level to the high school level. We have had numerous colleges contact former club wrestlers to compete at the college level and currently the club has a wrestler competing in a Division I collegiate program. We will teach and train your young athletes in every aspect of the sport of wrestling. Wrestling is like no other sport, it is very demanding, there is not a lot of down time in practices and the matches may only last a couple of minutes, but it is fast paced and intense at any level. But it is the most rewarding in self-confidence and shows them what hard work and dedication can do. Your athlete will learn technical wrestling moves, conditioning for competition, proper eating habits for wrestling, how hard work pays off and good sportsmanship, win or lose. Attendance at Live Oak schools is NOT required. If you are not sure this sport is for your child we will let them practice with the team for one week to make sure they are confident and want to wrestle before you and your athlete make a commitment to the club.

Like any other youth program we are self-supported and need as much help as we can get. We have a 501C non-profit tax ID number and will have a couple of fund raisers during the season to help pay for equipment, parties, awards, traveling to and from tournaments locally and out of town, etc. We will also host tournaments that we will need help and support from parents, siblings, etc. to make sure they run smoothly and to ensure we continue to host tournaments. We also sell team apparel thru our website (www.liveoakwrestle.com) that you can purchase and the club will make extra money on every order. So when you and your athlete commit you can show your team spirit and support by getting your wrestling club apparel. We also look for sponsorships thru donations and we can promote the sponsors on our website, programs, apparel and at tournaments we host. So if you know any that may be interested let us know and we can contact them and answer any questions they may have.
